Canning!

Lots of hard work.

Such pretty colors.

Trying new things.

This is just some of the canning that I have been doing this summer. It really has been kind of fun. I have done most of it on my own which is a first for me because I usually do it with my mom. We didn't have time this summer. I tried some new things this year at least for me. I did some pepper jelly which KC has decided that he loves and we have to have some as part of the BSU parties when they are playing out of town. Don't knock it until you try it. Its Yummy!! I tried salsa for the first time and it turned out pretty good. A little spicy but I have decided that I like spicy! I tried some butter nut squash too. I am so excited for that. I love it and now I just have to drain the water and heat. There tends to be a little prep work for it so it will be quick and easy. That was my longest project. I didn't even know that anything had to be pressure cooked for 90 min. It is so neat to see it all stacked on my shelves. It is so worth the effort.

This year is my very first year really doing it. I swear inwardly everytime I get something else to can. And then I see the finished product and I am so proud. You did such an awesome job. I ended up doing lots of tomatoes, apple butter, and apple pie filling. That stuff is so spendy. Next year I hope to do salsa.
